A Beautiful Cherry Blossom Wedding: Thomas and Elizabeth's Love Story

Photography by Bethany Aubre Photography
Sometimes, meeting your future spouse feels like fate. For Thomas and Elizabeth, this was true. Before leaving for basic training, Thomas attended church regularly. He always sat in the same seat. While he was away, Elizabeth returned to church. Unbeknownst to her, she sat in Thomas's spot. When he returned home and attended a service, he found Elizabeth and her sister sitting there. This unexpected encounter sparked their love story.
After their initial meeting, Elizabeth's sister believed they would be a great match. She began inviting Thomas to join them for various activities. However, Thomas often made an early exit. Both Thomas and Elizabeth later discovered that her sister's efforts were intentional.
Their shared involvement in church allowed them to connect quickly. A few months after their first meeting, they began dating. Just over a year later, Thomas proposed during a sunset hike at his favorite spot on the Appalachian Trail.
When it came time to plan their wedding, Thomas and Elizabeth envisioned a simple celebration. They wanted to honor God and their close family and friends. Elizabeth's brother read scripture during the ceremony, while a friend sang two worship songs.
With a love for flowers and nature, they chose a cherry blossom theme. Pinks and greens formed the core of their color palette. The floral inspiration extended to many details, including cherry blossom artwork on their wedding stationery and Elizabeth's bridal barrette.
Elizabeth wanted to feel like a princess on her wedding day. She handmade her column-style gown with a bateau neckline. Thomas looked like her prince in his army greens. The couple exchanged vows beneath a minimalistic wooden arbor adorned with cherry blossoms.
As guests entered the reception, they were greeted by a seating chart that featured a "live" flower arrangement. This artistic creation guided everyone to their seats. At each place setting, origami name cards awaited guests. The napkin folds and name cards resembled a flower and stem, adding a unique touch.
Elizabeth enjoyed arranging the floral centerpieces with her bridesmaids. They used roses and hydrangeas, paired with rich greenery. Completing the floral theme was the couple's modest vanilla cake, decorated with delicate sculpted cherry blossoms.
The couple is excited for their future together. They look forward to their continued involvement in the church that brought them together.
Thomas and Elizabeth's wedding was a beautiful celebration of love, faith, and family. Their cherry blossom theme added a touch of elegance and natural beauty to the day. As they embark on their journey together, they carry the memories of this special day with them.
